Three days on the most beautiful roads in Sibiu County. This is Sibiu Rally Romania, an event dedicated to historical vehicles, electric cars and racing cars scheduled for August 16 – 18, 2018.
Round in the Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens (FIVA) international calendar and round in the Regularity Rally Championship for Historic Vehicles organized by Retromobil Club Romania (RCR), Sibiu Rally Romania is the perfect opportunity to discover the most spectacular locations in Sibiu County the steering wheel of a historic or electric car.
“This year, for the first time, we included in the event a category dedicated to electric cars. Now all the signs show that the future will be electric and we want to get a signal in this direction too. We are the first event in Romania that organizes a competition for electric cars and I am sure that, as with the historical ones, the number of participants will increase from year to year, “Sorin Itu, organizer of the event, said.
The route was designed in such a way as to give the participants three days of story on the roads in Sibiu County. The main point of the event will be Piața Mare Sibiu, where the parade of cars, the festive start, the arrival after each day of the competition and, of course, the award ceremony.
Thursday, August 16, at 19:00, the festive start will take place on Friday, August 17, the start will take place at 12:00, and Saturday, August 18, at 08:30. Arrival on the first day is scheduled at 19:30 and on Saturdays arrival is at 18:00, followed at 20:30 by the awards ceremony.
On Friday, on the first day of the competition, the route includes a passage through the Sura Mica, Ocna Sibiului, Mândra, Ludos, Apoldu de Jos, Miercurea Sibiului, Dobarca, Sibiu, Tilişca, Sălişte, Sibiel, Orlat, Gura Râului, Răşinari and Piatra Mare from Sibiu.
“On the first day, the participants will have the opportunity to discover Sibiu’s surroundings, an area that includes 18 localities located in the southwestern part of Sibiu, all of them having an ethnological, cultural, architectural and historical heritage” said Sorin Itu, about route of this year’s edition.
On Saturday, the participants will discover the other half of the county, the climax being the climb to Transfăgărăşan, to Bâlea Lac, at an altitude of 2.043 meters. From here you will go to Biertan, on the route Săsăuş – Chirpăr – Nocrich – Alţâna – Bârghiş – Pelişor – Richiş. After Biertan, the competitors will go to Mediaş and then return to Sibiu, on the Great Square, on the Şeica Mare – Slimnic – Şura Mare route.
“On the second day the participants will reach the site of the Saxon settlements, Biertan, a UNESCO site, being of course only one of the attractions. We chose a route that would take them to all corners of the county and taste some of what we have to offer. We want to promote the city and the county of Sibiu internationally and I think this is an excellent opportunity”, Sorin Itu said.
